Some Evening Wedding Food Ideas to Whet Your Appetite

Let’s not beat around the bush - one of the most exciting elements of any wedding is the food. Whether it’s from a food truck or traditional catering, it’s one element that’s often spoken about for years to come.

However, if you’re bored of the usual sit-down three-course meal, you might be after something a little more exciting for your own wedding.

Good news - the choice of wedding food is entirely up to you. It’s your day, after all, which means you can choose the wedding food which best suits your taste and overall theme for the day.

Here are some ideas to get your taste buds tingling, with examples of superb Warwickshire companies who can deliver the goods.

Pizza

Everyone loves a pizza, and this is for several good reasons.

Firstly, you can put pretty much anything you like on top of them and they can be adapted to most dietary requirements including gluten free, vegetarian, vegan, and halal. Secondly, they’re incredibly easy to serve and clear up after and, thirdly, they’re absolutely delicious.

We recommend: The Wild Oven in Stratford, who really do offer wedding catering “with a twist”.

Fish and chips

While you won’t be the first couple to serve fish and chips at their wedding, you certainly won’t be the last, either.

This British classic is perfectly suited to a day of celebration, and it’s hearty enough to rejuvenate everyone when they reach the inevitable 3pm slump.

We recommend: The Chip Shed in Warwick. “The way it should be” - that’s all you need to know.

Ice cream truck

Unless your wedding is taking place in the dead of winter (there’s nothing wrong with that, by the way), there’s no reason not to have an idea cream truck at the venue.

It’ll be a hit with adults and kids alike, and it’s more affordable than you might think.

We recommend: Poptop. A great comparison site for bookable ice cream trucks.

Bacon sarnie

Ooh, the smell of a bacon sandwich is just irresistible, isn’t it? Even if that isn’t your (or some of your guests’) thing, a sandwich supplier could be just the tonic for your alternative wedding breakfast.

Because let’s be honest - everyone likes a sandwich, don’t they? Some couples choose to add a bacon or egg sandwich option at around 10/11pm to help soak up some alcohol before people go home.

We recommend: reading on to find out our pig roast company recommendation, because they should be able to help you when it comes to sarnies, too!

Pig roast

A staple of weddings, the pig roast is still a great choice if you want something tasty, easy, and cost-effective with which to fill your guests’ bellies.

It isn’t really an outdoorsy wedding without a pig roast, is it?

We recommend: The Shakespeare Spit Roast Company. Locally sourced produce served with a smile - it doesn’t get better than this. Alternatively, we recommend checking out The Lazy Pig.

Burgers

Just like pizza, you’ll be hard pressed to find anyone within your wedding party who’s not partial to a burger - particularly with so many types available these days including chicken or veggie if your guests aren’t fans of beef.

This is also one of the simplest wedding meals to order and clean up after, too - so, everyone’s a winner!

We recommend: Slaughter’s Smoke Shack – homemade BBQ food does not get any better than this.

Gin

It’s easy to get carried away with the food, isn’t it? Let’s not forget the all-important liquid refreshments that’ll put your guests in the party mood!

Gin has exploded in popularity over the last few years, so why not satisfy your guests’ inevitable thirst for gin cocktails with a mobile bar?

We recommend: The Little Gin Company. Their mobile gin and rum trucks are as funky as their menus.

Cocktails

Imagine deliciously crafted, locally sourced cocktails made live, in front of your guests, during your big day. That’s exactly what you’ll get if you hire the services of a mobile cocktail firm.

There really is no better way to get the party started and move beyond traditional, boring drinks.

We recommend: Liquid Spirit – they even hold cocktail master classes if you fancy treating yourself to a unique experience before or after the wedding.

We hope this guide has given you plenty of inspiration for your own big day. If you’re still stuck for ideas, we recommend requesting our ‘Little Black Book’ of fabulous caterers.

Just remember to speak to the Plato team when it comes to anything you need to hire!
